5 Reasons to Run the Northshore Half Marathon
- The Course is Beautiful
For many first time Northshore Half runners, expectations are far exceeded in course layout and beauty. The park and waterfront provide refreshing and natural scenes that offer timely distractions, resulting in fierce speeds with little effort…can someone say PR?!
- The Volunteers are Amazing
The water stops are prepped and ready for the stream of runners in the 10 mile and half marathon. Prepped and ready…with enthusiasm, entertainment, and encouragement! Oh, and they will have water and Gatorade as well. Don’t forget to thank them as you zoom on by.
- Crowd Support is Plentiful
Running through supportive neighborhoods and past vibrant businesses helps to push runners through any rough spots. The clusters of cheering families, friends, and total strangers provide ample opportunities to practice your wave or high fives and to get up to speed on the best, new race signs (and maybe some oldies but goodies too).
- The Fellow Runners
You train with them. You plan with them. The Northshore Half is where you race with them. The true spirit of running is never felt more than on race day. The culmination of so many runs happens in these minutes. While each race is our own, the kindred experience of racing with your training partners (and with fellow competitors) unites us all in one moving string of competitiveness, perseverance, and grit.
- The Post-Race Party
Talk about a major motivator in the Northshore Half – the post-race party is where it’s at! A runner would be hard pressed to find such a nicely done finish party with short lines, delectable food, local craft beer by Abita that pours until the end, fun music, and social time with all your running buddies. Runners can look forward to “The Sweetest Buns in The South” with an award winning burger from MugShots and an Abita beer to wash it down while sitting in the field enjoying the beautiful view from Fountainbleu!
